BRAVO AWWA: MILITARY WORLD GAMES 2007
A seminar on contribution by the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) was held on 02 Mar 07 at the Basantar Auditorium in the Mehdipatnam garrison of Hyderabad, India. A large number of officers and families from the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad participated in this seminar.
Since its creation in 1966, the Army Wives Welfare Association or AWWA as it is popularly known has been in forefront of all welfare activities in the Indian Army. It has in its fold an immense resource pool of talent, which will be coming up voluntarily to actively participate in the Military World Games 2007 at Hyderabad (India)
In the seminar, the Army Wives gave valuable suggestions and said that they would be coming forth to take part in activities relating to reception at the airports and railway station, participate in ceremonial related activities such as prize distribution, acting as Master of Ceremonies, announcers, and usherers. They would also act as guides for city towns and venues.
Another interesting aspect which emerged was their willingness to establish an AWWA Haat to showcase various traditional items from all over the country for the benefit of the athletes and officials. They also agreed to put eateries with Indian cuisine on their menu.
Overall a very educative and befitting seminar it emerged that AWWA will be playing a very vital role in the Military World Games. We expect AWWA to partake in the conduct of MWG 2007 in a big way.
